    An exciting opportunity to study with Studio Theatre and Conservatory founder, Joy Zinoman.

    This directing class is taught by Joy Zinoman. It's offered once every 2 years, and opportunities like this don't come around often.

    Built for actors, directors, playwrights, and filmmakers ready to work at a professional level, the course covers script analysis and preparation, blocking and movement, the business of theatre, improvisation and working with actors, rhythm and tempo, theatrical organization, auditioning, and the integration of all aspects of technical theatre.

    Classes meet once a week, Tuesday evenings or Wednesday afternoons. You'll state your availability when you apply.

    Price$750

    A rare class, taught once every 2 years.

    Prerequisites: Application and instructor approval. Students are accepted at the instructor's discretion. Applying doesn't guarantee a place.

    Joy Zinoman, founder of Studio Acting Conservatory and Studio Theatre

    Founder, Studio Acting Conservatory & Studio Theatre — Master Teacher of Acting and Directing

    Joy Zinoman is the Founding Artistic Director of Studio Theatre in Washington, DC, which she led for 35 years — during which time the theater earned 225 Helen Hayes nominations. She is also the founder of Studio Acting Conservatory, where she created the curriculum and serves as Master Teacher of Acting and Directing.

    She has directed over 100 productions of contemporary, classical, and modernist plays, most recently a New York workshop of when the time comes with Nancy Robinette and the Cygnus Ensemble. Her work has received numerous awards including for Outstanding Direction and Visionary Leadership in the Arts.

    This directing class — offered once every two years — is one of the rarest opportunities in DC theater training: direct access to the person who built the institution, shaped its curriculum, and has spent five decades training the city's working artists.
